Yes. The ferry services frequently sell out, especially during the dry season from May to October. Book your ticket before arriving at the Cairns Marina.
Yes. You can bring your own mask, snorkel, and fins. If you do not have your own, you can rent equipment at the Fitzroy Island Sports Hub or book a tour that includes it.
Most basic ferry tickets do not include lunch. Some operators offer optional picnic lunch boxes for an extra fee. You can also buy food at Foxy's Bar on the island.

A lovely day on Fitzroy Island. Crew friendly and attentive. Island is beautiful and there were so many fish near the shore when snorkelling. Walks around Island are great and well signposted. The only thing that could have been better was the snorkel equipment, it is obviously well used and leaked quite a bit. I would recommend the trip but suggest you use your own snorkel equipment.
A beautiful way to spend the day. We walked to the lighthouse and my husband continued to the summit. We enjoyed the trek to Nudey Beach and relaxed and swam and ended the day with a cocktail overlooking the ocean. I think half day would not have been enough for us and we didn't even do any excursions.
Beautiful place - just make sure you bring sturdy reef shoes or some such as the coral makes the beach there and it’s a bit like walking on nature’s Lego !
