Fitzroy Island National Park protects 97% of the island's 339 hectares. The walking tracks vary from flat, shaded routes to steep inclines. You will need sturdy walking shoes and a refillable water bottle for the longer hikes.
Nudey Beach is the most famous spot on the island. Despite the name, you must wear swimwear. You can reach it via a short trail from the main resort area.

This stretch of coral beach sits surrounded by tropical rainforest. It was voted the best beach in Australia in 2018. The surface is made of coral rather than soft sand. Note that swimwear is strictly required here.

A fringing coral reef sits just offshore from the beach. This area is known for sea turtles and various marine life. Swim slowly and watch for turtles grazing near the coral bommies. Wear a lycra stinger suit if visiting between November and May.

This steep track climbs to the island's highest point at 269 metres (882 feet). The summit offers clear views of the surrounding ocean. Start this hike early in the morning to avoid the tropical heat. Carry plenty of drinking water with you.
45 mins returnEasy trail
This peaceful track follows a seasonal creek through dense rainforest. The path is largely flat and well-shaded. It is a good option for families or visitors wanting a short nature walk. Bring insect repellent for the trail.
